"Come on, you promised!" Yayoi was about to pull Kei's arm out of its socket.
He just shook his head. What had possessed him to agree to this anyway? The Knight of Light did not dance. Ever.
Yet when Yayoi had suggested it with that sparkle in her eyes, he couldn’t help but agree. How did she do that? He sighed and rested a hand on her elbow. “Yes, let’s go.”
The club was not the sort of place that Kei would normally go anywhere near. Loud music, large crowds and flashing lights really weren’t his thing. At least the odds of encountering anyone he knew were low.
Yayoi tugged his arm again. Clearly, she wasn’t going to settle for just getting him into the club. He was going to have to get on the dance floor. Kei took a deep breath before plunging into the sea of movement. He could never admit that he didn’t know what to do.
His date did not share his problem. She was a blur, spinning in every direction. It was a challenge just to keep his feet out from beneath hers. He supposed that to an observer, his frantic dodging might even look like dancing.
As the night progressed, Yayoi began steering Kei to follow her movements. He didn’t ask for this lesson, but she gave it with joy. Her exuberance was contagious. By the time they made their way home in the wee hours of the morning, the Knight was really loving the nightlife.
